About Tessa

I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT #91413) who works with individual adults and couples. I'm originally from the Bay Area but now feel very at home in Los Angeles. I have a four year old daughter ("4 and a lot" as she would say), a husband, and a huge dog named Duke. I love exploring the city - trying new foods, seeing concerts, movies, and theater, going to the beaches and farmers markets! I also love getting to know people, hearing stories about peoples' lives and being a witness to healing and transformation. This is part of what lead me to become a therapist.
I specialize in treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and new parenting transitions. I use evidenced based practices including use of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy skills, solution focused therapy, and mindfulness practices depending on the unique needs of each client. I truly believe that all behavior and emotion makes sense given one's past experiences. Once understanding is reached, healing begins.
My style is collaborative, client-centered, and gentle. When needed I will be open and directive to help support you in a way that is honest and transparent. I also like to use humor when appropriate in therapy sessions as I believe laughter is incredibly healing.
